Malcolm Wegg

Malcolm’s journey in the industry began at just 15 years old at Rogers TV, where he gained hands-on experience in broadcasting. He later pursued his passion for audio by studying Film and Television at Seneca College, laying the foundation for a career dedicated to capturing, mixing, and refining sound across film, television, and live productions.

In 2024, Malcolm was honored with a Canadian Screen Award for Black Community Mixtape, alongside a talented team of audio mixers—a milestone that further reinforced his dedication to the craft.

Black Community Mixtapes is an award-winning documentary series that follows filmmaker and actor KhaRå Martin as she embarks on a journey to uncover and re-examine pivotal Black social movements in Canada over the past 60 years. Through a vivid exploration of personal archives collected by Canadians, the series brings to life transformative moments that have shaped and defined Canadian history. The documentary was honored with multiple Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Sound, Best Direction, and Best Original Music.

Driven by a passion for learning, Malcolm has developed a diverse set of skills over the years, with no plans to stop anytime soon. Through hard work, dedication, and the support of the vibrant sound community, he has had the privilege of becoming a proud member of IATSE 873 as a sound utility.
